Nate and Gina's wedding was absolutely gorgeous. Gina was such a beautiful bride, and she easily made my pictures look great!!!! I also had a cooler day for this wedding, but Gina made it look so easy when we took pictures. I had my coat on so it's never hard for me on these cooler days, but I do feel bad for the brides when they have these sleeveless dresses. I wish Nate and Gina the best in their new lives together, and I was honored to spend this most amazing day with them!

I have had so much fun getting to know Kevin and Tara. They are an amazing couple, and I am so happy for them. We had a cooler fall day for their wedding, but you can't tell one bit with their pictures. Tara was such a trooper outside!!! Kevin and Tara did have some fun stuff planned, and I absolutely loved when they brought in their Wii game and everyone danced to Michael Jackson's "Thriller". It made for some great pictures, and some fun memories!!!!! I think they had everyone on that dance floor because I seriously couldn't move around much to take pictures! This could be the newest thing at weddings!!

This sweet little newborn belongs to one of my closest friends, and the crazy thing is neither her or I planned on getting pregnant, and one day when we got together with our other kids, we had the same news to share. The only difference is Jacob was due almost 2 months before my little one, so needless to say getting these shots of him wasn't the easiest task, but luckily he slept through almost everything I wanted and it was one of my easiest newborn shoots.

So once again, another gorgeous senior! Samantha was another natural in front of my camera, and honestly these senior girls make me look good! I get so excited when I have a session that is easier like this because it allows me to have more time to work on other things like posing and finding cool spots to take pictures. Samantha was one my last session for the fall season. At this point I was at the end of my 7 month being pregnant, so I was pretty ready to be done. However, I have had so many tell me that I haven't gained weight any where but my belly. It may have something to do with the 3 hour hikes I was doing throughout the year!!!!! I love my job and can't wait to pick up and start working again in the spring. At least I will have less weight to carry around at that point, and getting on the ground to take pictures wont take me so long!!!!

We have had record highs for rain this year, and it has made me a bit crazy during the fall sessions because I had so many of them scheduled. So we managed to fit this session in within an hour, and somehow we missed the rain, and we finished as it was getting dark!

What a great time I had photographing this family. This little guy just cracked me up with his little stare at me while I was taking his pictures. I'm sure he thought I was just some crazy lady! Towards the end of the session he was only interested in the leaves on the ground, so we decided to put him in the leaves that he wanted so bad, and then he started to cry! Hard to ever know what little ones want, and so you have to keep switching it up for as long as they will let you. All in all we got some great shots and we had one gorgeous fall day!

So of course it seems like every time I have a photo shoot the temperature is pretty hot! In fact, I'm working this Saturday and they are calling for 81, but why are we getting these hot temperatures in October! This year has been the worse for extreme conditions! First the record rain we had in spring, and then brutal heat in the summer, and even now we are going from cold to hot in a week!

Anyways, Katlin did a great job on her photo shoot! I think she could hold the record for the most outfits in 3 hours. This girl was a speedy changer, so it made for many different looks for her pictures.

So I've know Cj since he was about 10 years old. He lives in my neighborhood, and I have watched him grow up over the years. I have to say the Cj is one of the most polite young men I know. He has always been very polite to me and my husband over the years, so you know his parents have taught him well. Most teen just like to act as if they are to good to talk to you, so it's nice when a teen actually acknowledges you. It's weird because many years ago my oldest daughter watched Cj and his brother over the summer, and now my daughter is all grown up and out of the house, and Cj is close to the same. Where is the time going?

So Alex is my sister in laws niece. I've watched Alex grow up over the years, and I could hardly believe it when her mom told me she was a senior. I also had a privilege of doing her sister's senior pictures last year to! I have to say that Alex is a pretty easy going girl. The poor thing only had one pair of jeans and they were the ones she had on. Her idea was to just keep changing her shirt for different outfits. Of course wouldn't you know it, she fell and got mud all over her jeans. We all just stood their in shock as to what we should do. So Alex's mom took one of her brown shirts, and dipped it into the river nearby that we were taking pictures by and kept washing off her jeans. Luckily her jeans were dark, so the fact that they were wet didn't matter, but poor Alex's foot was bothering her and her foot hurt to bad to wear some of the shoes she brought. Regardless how bad everything seemed to have gotten, Alex just went with it, and kept smiling when I asked her to smile. I joked that she was my first injury on a photo shoot, and hopefully my last. I felt bad:(

So I've know Amy since before our 13 year olds kids were born, and my husband grew up with her husband Scott! Needless to say this was a fun photo shoot because it was like old times. Amy is a singer, and she has a band so she is always in need of good head shots, and creative shots, so we mixed up this photo shoot to include family pictures, Amy pictures, couple pictures, and then Scott requested some pictures for facebook as well. We got a lot of pictures in a short period of time! Oh ya, and their children our absolutely gorgeous! Definitely a good looking family!

Medina OH Engagement Photographer - Pat and Lyndie

I know Pat and Lyndie from my church, and I couldn't be happier for the both of them! I loved it, because Pat and Lyndie brought some of their own ideas to the photo shoot, but unfortunately I can't share those photos because they are wanting to keep them a surprise for their save the dates, so maybe I'll post those later.

I did have an unusual experience on this photo shoot. We were driving from one location to another location, and suddenly I noticed a man come to a complete stop in the lane coming from the other direction after I passed him. I found it odd, but wasn't sure what the issue was, so I just kept driving. I figured he was having an issue with the car that was behind him. So a little over a mile or so later, I arrived at the second location for this photo shoot, and then I noticed there was an extra car following us. This guy gets out and approaches me looking pretty crazy in his eyes, and he says "WHAT, didn't you see me back there"!!!! I told him "I wasn't sure what he was talking about". He then claimed I was in his lane by a few feet. I assured him that I wasn't, and at most I was on the yellow line taking the sharp turn on that road. Suddenly, Pat's mom who was there helping us on the photo shoot, stepped in and asked if the guy was okay. He says "I think I'm okay." Then Pat's mom told him that I was expecting and everyone needed to just calm down, and the guy looks at me with frustrations and says "your pregnant?". I told him yes, and he just stormed off and got in his car and left. So after that, we all discussed the situation about this unsettled man. Pat and Lyndie agreed that they didn't see me go into his lane, and we all agreed that there was something just off with this man. His eyes were bugging out of his face the entire time we were talking to him, so I'm not sure what was wrong with him, but I am thankful that I had people with me when this incident went down. I can't imagine what this man's intentions were otherwise. Most people don't chase down other people and then approach then and start yelling! Well at least it made for an interesting story!

Alaina went to school with my daughter, so I've known her for awhile. It was fun hanging out with her and her mom. Alaina also wanted to include some pictures with her boyfriend in her session, so it was fun getting to know Victor as well! Victor wasn't to talkative, but that's okay because I talk enough for a few people put together!!!

So what can I say about Kelsey except that she is a model in the making, and what I loved about her the most, was she was very modest about it. Kelsey has such a warm spirit and someone you just want to be around. It was a pleasure getting to know Kelsey!

We did have one crazy experience while on this shoot. For some reason the mosquitos have been getting really bad, so we decided to get bug spray on us for the last hour, but for some reason even though I drenched myself with it, the mosquitos were in love with me. At times I felt like there were about 50 of them swarming me, but at the same time they were leaving Kelsey and her mom alone. Eventually after getting bitten several times, Kelsey's mom started swating the ones that were landing on me from behind. She did say at one point that there was one of them on my butt and that is where she was drawing the line swating at me to get them off! Luckily after showering after this photo shoot at home all the bug bites calmed down and by the next day I didn't see any of the bites!!

Cleveland Ohio Photographer - Anniversary Photo Shoot Randy and Jaclynn

So Jaclynn contacted me because she needed some fresh and new pictures to hang on her wall. So for her anniversary she decided that she would get these pictures done. Jaclynn also feels like she needs to get these pictures done before there is a child in the picture one day. Let me tell you from experience, that after there are children in your life, it is hard to ever get a picture again alone with your spouse.

I had a fun time hanging out with Randy and Jaclynn. They were pros at this since they had engagement pictures done, and wedding pictures done in the past. So at the very end of our session, we decided to go get a picture of this old antique police car. While we were shooting pictures a fireman walked by and said "you know, if you really want some good pictures, you need some with a firetruck." So of course we agreed with him, and he said to to the front of the firestation which was around the building, and he would let us choose any picture we wanted with a firetruck. So we decided upon the ladder truck, since it was the biggest. So the fireman pulled it out for us, and we grabbed a few fun shots by it! What a cool way to end a great session!!!!

So I met Lauren at a Dr.'s appointment that I had (she worked there), and she recognized my last name. Lets be honest! How many people have the last name Stahnke? In fact, that is why I went with my name for my photography business because, I knew know one would have the same name as me. Anyways, a friend of hers knew my daughter, and she saw some of the pictures I have done of my daughter, so she started asking me about the photography. A month or so later Lauren contacted me to do her engagement shoot!

I have to say her fiancee, Chris, is one funny guy. He had Lauren laughing through most my shoot, and that made it hard for those serious pictures, but at least I had no trouble getting those laughing pictures. These two have so much fun together, and I told them that if they can keep that alive one day in their marriage, then they will have a great marriage! So again, I managed to sneak in a photo shoot without the horrible heat we have had this summer! Go figure we all go from complaining from all the rain and cold, to complaining about the heat! It just hasn't been a weather friendly year this year for my photography, but I have managed to get every shoot done regardless.

So Hannah, her mom, and myself hit up a few locations in the area, and we had a great time a long the way. We had a windy day, so good thing Hannah's mom was there to be my personal hair assistant for my model. She was there between every few pictures fixing her hair, and I couldn't of imagined the shoot with out her there! Hannah your a great young lady, and I was very impressed with the respect you had for your mother! I know your going to have great things in your future!!!!

So Kevin and Tara's wedding is coming up in October, and I'm looking forward to the cool crisp temperatures, along with the fall colors in October. However for now, we wanted to capture summer at its best. So we headed to the lake for some beautiful sun set pictures. We literally got to the point that we shot everything we could, and we were just waiting for the sun to drop so we could grab those last few (which is one of them above)! So we sat and just talked for about 15 min. I love when I can just take time to get to know the people I shoot pictures for! It was a beautiful evening and I'm so glad we snuck it in before this horrible heat wave has attacked Ohio!

So I had the privilege of doing a photo shoot for my parents for their 40th wedding anniversary! My parents have always set a very high standard of what marriage is, and I'm so glad that I have the two of them to set that example for me. I never grew up in fear thinking that either one of them would ever give up, and 40 years of celebrating their marriage proves just that! I have also had the privilege of witnessing both of my grandparents reach their 50th wedding anniversary. I hope with all I have learned from all of these amazing couples in my life, that I will have a strong and ever lasting marriage myself!

Me and my parents had a blast hanging out while I was grabbing some shots of them. I have to say that I was laughing a lot, and I'm glad I got to help celebrate this amazing milestone in their lives!!!!

Then the last picture we incorporated "their" song. I have to say, we some how managed to miss the rain on this particular day, and we got some perfect cloud coverage! What a crazy day of rain we had at this wedding. Charlie and Laura had an outside ceremony, and the rain started coming down right at the end of the ceremony. The couple ran out just in the nick of time, and you literally saw all their guest follow behind them. It was a moment they will never forget. They had a beautiful venue for this wedding, and it gave the guest the ability to move around inside this gorgeous house while the rain was coming down. Soon it passed and the guest were able to eat dinner outside.

Charlie and Laura have a beautiful daughter together, and it was so much fun to include her into the wedding pictures. It was a beautiful and perfect day in-spite of the rain!

So I squeezed this engagement shoot in just a week before Steve and Melissa's Wedding! We decided to head to the art museum, and we were going to do pictures outside of the art museum as well, but if it rained we were going to head to the Botanical Gardens. Of course it was nice out till literally the minute I got to the art museum and I was walking in and it started raining on us. So here in Ohio you don't panic because 20 minutes later it might be sunny again. So we decided to start with the indoor pictures, and sure enough the rain went away and the sun came out! So we finished up the session outside! What a perfect romantic setting for the two of them!!!

What a beautiful day it was here in Cleveland Ohio. At one point I was actually warm outside, and I haven't had that while working for over 6 months! Lauren and Tom picked a beautiful venue, and they both didn't want anything traditional when it came to their photos for the day. I love when I get a chance to be as creative as I want, and with the location I had, I couldn't of asked for more!

Lauren and Tom seem to have some sort of great connection to one another, and they both seemed to be marrying their best friend! I enjoyed spending the day with him, and I appreciate the opportunity to capture their special day! Wishing you two the best in your new lives together!

Wedding Photographer Hudson OH - Meredith and Wes

What a beautiful sunny day Meredith and Wes had for their wedding. You wouldn't know it by looking at the pictures, but it was around 30 degrees when we took these outside pictures. Meredith and Wes requested we do a "first look" (which is the bride and groom seeing each other before the wedding) so that we could get all the pictures done ahead of time. I have to say, aside of the tradition, I much more prefer a bride and groom do a "first look". Everyone always worries that they will loose that moment of seeing each other for the first time when the bride is coming down the isle, but I look at it, you are gaining an extra special moment, that you are only sharing with each other, in addition to the photographer to capture the moment. A "first look" also gives me a chance to capture both of the bride and grooms reaction in the same picture. That can't be done when a bride is walking down the isle. I always tell the grooms you will still get that tingle feeling when your bride does come down the isle, because at that moment you know that it is really happening.

So having said all of that, I started out at Meredith's home where her and her 10 bridesmaids were getting ready! They had full run of that house! Then I left with the bride and headed to the church where Wes got to see Meredith for the first time. From there we headed out for some pictures in a local town. We were so lucky because while we were out shooting pictures, we found this quaint little gallery which allowed us to come in and warm up a few times. I also took a little bit of a different approach to my picture taking on this day. We had full sun, and I normally hate to shoot in the sun, but on this particular day I just embraced the sun, and we shot directly in it anyways. Every time I put the bride and groom in the shade, I thought the bride was going to die from coldness. So keeping them in the sun some, wasn't a bad idea. Later when we got back to the church the bride shook for over an hour from all the time we spent outside. Meredith your quite the trooper, and you don't even look cold in your pictures! Hats off to you girl!

Winter Wonderland!

So I have been dying to try out my new vintage chair in a photo session, so a few weeks ago, I got my chance, and these set of pictures turned out better then I could of ever envisioned. I've had my eyes on this spot that was real close to my house for quite some time, so with the most perfect wet snow sticking to every branch, it was like a Winter Wonderland! And who says pictures in the winter outside isn't a good time! Here in Ohio, we have to embrace every season with all that it is!!!!

Columbus OH Wedding - Shane and Megan

So I had the privilege of photographing Shane and Megan on their wedding day. Megan was friends with my older daughter when she was younger, so I have known Megan since she was a little girl. I'm somewhat in denial that Megan was getting married because that means it is only a matter of time before my daughter will be getting married too. I have also had the privilege to become friends with Megan's mother of the years, and so it was an extra special day to be able to photograph for some old friends.

I have to say I was a bit worried about what the weather would bring us in February. It was cloudy, and cold but at least it wasn't raining. We did go outside to snap some pictures and we saw a few snow flurries, so I give Megan so much credit for being out there with no coat. She never even looked cold while we were out there. I also loved Shane's dress uniform. It was a very romantic and special wedding, and I'm very happy for the two of them.

Photo Challenge - Sun Flare

So this weeks theme is sun flare! I've had to learn to work with the sun, since I never know the conditions that I'm going to be working in. I prefer the cloudy days for my photo shoots, but I definitely have fun playing with the sun in my pictures when I get it, especially when the sun is going down. I Heart Faces Photo Challenge - Anything But A Face

So this was one of my favorite pictures from my family photo shoots last year. This family requested sunrise, instead of the typical sunset! It was an early morning, but so worth it for the gorgeous shots that we got! I just love this moment with this family, because it doesn't get any more real then walking your dog in your neighborhood! So over the last year, I have lost track of how many people have emailed me or facebooked me, with questions on the best camera to buy, or what settings I use on my camera, or how I get a certain look to my pictures with editing, and I have even had people ask me what I would charge to teach them photography? So with all that in mind, I decided it would be easiest for me to just offer a photography workshop, where I could go over all of these things and more. I figure if someone is really interested in photography, then they will take time to go to a workshop like this, other wise it is someone who just wants a simple answer to taking better pictures, in which case will never happen! For anyone who knows photography, they know that a lot goes into taking good pictures, and not just some magical setting on your camera. I'm hoping in this workshop, to help make since of all the settings on the camera, and to just be able to teach some simple techniques that will help in getting great pictures all the time! Newborn Photographer Medina OH - Baby Olivia

So here is a newborn photo shoot I did this last week. Little Olivia is sweet as sweet can be. She just was confused at what part of the session she was suppose to sleep through. I showed up at noon and when I got there little Olivia was already sleeping. So I got things set up and ready to go, and then little Olivia thought, that she had a great cat nap and it was not time to wake up. So her mom and I tried everything to get her back to sleep, but she wasn't going to have it, so that's when we decided to just go with some awake pictures and just wear her out. So that's what we did, and WOW Olivia is a little model. She held so still for me for some of the shots, and for newborns that isn't easy. They like to move their head around and make funny faces, but Olivia seemed quite fascinated with my camera, and kept starring at it.

So finally after a bottle, a diaper change, a bad spit up, and 2 and a half hours later, Olivia fell back to sleep. I was scared to death to move her but the more I moved her, the more I realized this little gal was sound to sleep. So we had fun just moving her from thing to thing, and within about 40 minutes, I got all the pictures I needed! So what seemed like a not so good shoot at the beginning turned out to be great! I always tell the mom's when I show up. The baby is in control of the entire photo shoot, and we just have to be patient. That is also why I book 3 hours when doing a photo shoot! It seems like a lot of time to take pictures, but we usually spend most of that time, just getting the baby to sleep, and in the position we want them in.
